Ho Chi Minh City Open University has just issued regulations to stop using plastic bottled water, plastic straws throughout the school.

The school encourages students, faculty, and staff to bring their own drinking water bottles or use tea water served by the administrative office.

From May 15, all classrooms stop serving plastic bottled water for teachers. Teachers use personal water bottles or school-issued jars to collect drinking water at the staff room or lecture hall.

At Hoa Hoi Secondary School (Xuyen Moc District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province), all teachers and students in the school use straws made from citronella. This is the product of the scientific and technical research project of Nguyen Thi Bao Ngan and Nguyen Huu Khang guided by teacher Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, applied by the school. This creation of the two students won the third prize in the Science and Technology Innovation Contest of the school year 2018-2019 organized by Ba Ria-Vung Tau Education Department.

The Ho Chi Minh City Cooperative Trade Union (Saigon Co.op) decided to stop trading plastic straws on the entire retail system, starting from 5/2019.

Not only completely removing the plastic straw from the shelf in the supermarket's buffet area, but Saigon Co.op also actively removed the plastic straws attached to the private label products, and also notice to request premises for rent in the self-service area to minimize the use of plastic straws.
